Private Summer cottage

Brief: A 1980’s seaside bungalow.  Most existing furnishings were secondhand, dark woods and well worn.  The family haven’t used it much in recent years and now wish to re-vitalise it for the next generation. it looked tired and unloved.

Design:  Easy-care is the key to this design.  The family want to enjoy the beaches and country side with as little maintenance as possible while having a very cosy house. This design takes account of  the seaside location.  I have introduced washed oak furniture to the living room with a soft colour palette of greens/yellow/sand in the living and kitchen areas. The wooden floors and tiles are all easy care for young grandchildren coming in from the beach.

Bedrooms have been designed with fresh simple to care materials.  By buying extra themed bedlinen it ensures the colour scheme is maintained for a quick turn around when extended family visit.
