Rita took part in the RTE Showhouse Series 5 – 2009 

The brief:

• 5 bedroomed house built to 1st fix stage.
• This house is to be fully finished including flooring/tiling/painting/furniture/electric appliances/linen/kitchen utensils.
• The house has to be fitted out ready for family lets to 5* standard.
• 5 Days to complete, ready for filming. 

Having visited the house I decided to create a fun, bright, daring design.  Holidays should be a time for change therefore this is a fun coloufull design to uplift the spirit and should appeal to adults and children. 

The high gloss green/black kitchen was the starting point. Green is not a colour most people would install in their home but is wonderful to experience in a short term home.   I wanted to create a fun space where family and friends could enjoy down time to read, sip a wine, chill out and play. 

I was conscious the design had to accommodate a quick weekly turnover for new clients therefore surfaces need to be hardwearing and practical.
